A sheep and the other half

I finished my little sheep from Shepherds Bush, "Home". But when I went to attach the little hat button....my button did not have any holes drilled into it. I guess I could try to do it myself, but knowing me....I am sure the button will be destroyed. I'll try and give Shepherds Bush Shop a call later today and see if I can get a replacement.

And the other half? I finished by second Blackbird stocking. :) Very "Halloweeny" with the rusts and black.

Thanks to all of you who continue to stop by and visit. I love reading your comments and following all the links to your blogs.

One and a Half

Yep...one and a half. Stockings...Blackbird Designs. I had such a difficult time deciding which one to do, I finally just started with the very first one in the book. Once I finished that one, I was still undecided...so started the second one. Hence....one and a half. One full stocking finished and a half one, too!

I am using the recommended fabrics...but did change up a thread or two (already!). I really like Crescent Colours threads, so pulled all the oranges and rusts that I had to see what would work and was similar to the pictures in the book.

BBD July Stocking

I finished this one the other day. It is supposed to be stitched in red and blue threads (red, white, blue for July...)...but I changed the blue to green. I'm really happy with the change, especially since the Avocado thread by GAST has quite some variations in it.

Honeysuckle Vine

My Blackbird Design stocking for June is the Honeysuckle Vine. These little stockings are just so darn cute!

Tulip Border

The May st0cking from Blackbird Designs is called Tulip Border. Only two colors, but very pretty, and stitched on my tea-dyed linen. :)) I am really liking how the fabric looks with these little stockings.

So far, I have done one stocking from each leaflet. It would have been nice to have 36 little stockings at the end of the year. But, I know me....they would never get done. So I set a goal to stitch at least one. I'll still have twelve stockings (hopefully) at the end, which really isn't too bad. ;)

This is a scanned picture of the stocking. I did leave it rather large when you click on it, since I wanted to let you see how the fabric looks...(c'mon Gabi - you can do it!)

Oh, Sweet Pea

c'mon and dance with me...c'mon, c'mon c'mon and dance with me e e ee! (Remember that song?)

The only thing it has to do with stitching is that is the name of the little Blackbird Designs stocking I stitched for the month of April. I used my tea-dyed linen from yesterday for this one.
After finishing this one, I also started the May stocking, Sweet Violets.
Keep watching...won't be too much longer for that one! ;)

Playing

I really, really like the soft neutral colors of Lakeside Linen. However, the price...not so much.:)

So I decided to give tea dyeing a try this morning. I looked in my drawer of white fabric and picked out several pieces, different counts, Lugana, Cashel and Belfast. I think there may even be a Wichelt linen in there, too. Threw them all in the pot...and look! All of these fabrics came out of the same pot (and were all in there together the same amount of time):

And they all feel so nice and soft, too! All in all, after the dyeing and the pressing - an hour of time. :)

Now to give them a try on my Blackbird Design monthly stockings.

Quaker Fragments

Last night - I watched cartoons...on the Turner Movie Classic channel. My old time favorites - Merrie Melodies....Sniffles the mouse, the old style Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Marvin the Martian and my all time favorite - Michigan J. Frog (the singing frog)....Of course, there was stitching, too, but nothing that required a lot of concentration, since I was enjoying reliving my childhood....But look what got finished! It's Blackbird Designs Quaker Fragments stocking from the March of the Daffodils booklet:

I did not have the required threads for this on hand, so decided to try something a little different from the medium green and light green used in the model. Now I have a stocking for each month!

I know I have not said how much I appreciate everyone's wonderful comments for a while. I really enjoy that each of you come to visit me and are kind enough to leave a comment. It truly brightens my day. Thank you!

Sweetheart Stocking

I just finished up my second Blackbird Designs little stocking. This is from the second leaflet, Love is in the Air. It is called a Sweetheart Stocking.

Sweetheart Sampler Stocking

That's No. 2 for my collection! Hmmm....maybe it's time to look at the leaflet for March!

(Stitched on the recommended Olde Town Blend by R&R Fabrics with Brick Weeks Dye Works thread.)

Told ya!

Auld Lang Syne Stocking

My first little stocking from Blackbird Designs newest releases. This is one of the January stockings....Auld Lang Syne.

I thought that I might try to stitch at least one of the stockings for each month. Instead of 36 stockings, maybe I can have twelve.

As Promised

I finished the needlebook cover for the Traveling Stitcher.
Traveling Stitcher Needlebook

Love the colors in this one. Now to put it together!

I also started one of the little stockings from Blackbird Designs, which I will probably finish up today. Just the stitching ~ not the actual stocking, that is!

BBD

Blackbird Designs - Buttons & Blooms for the Cure. I do not know why I start these small projects, then set them aside. Anyway - the stitching for this very nice little design is finished. Now - to get out the sewing machine and finish it into the little pincushion!

Buttons & Blooms for the Cure(b)

( Hey - I'm on a roll here - must be the new year - instead of new starts - new finishes!)

Number 1....Sarah Tobias Pincushion:

Number 2....Shepherds Bush, Honey Shop:
 Honey Shop(a)

...and Number 3...Mary Beale's Medieval Angel Ornament:
Medieval Angel Ornament(a)

The Sarah Tobias pincushion was pretty quick. The other two were pieces I had started some time ago, and just never completed the stitching. Yesterday I was looking through my stash for a quick finish fix, and found these two.
