Letter U

is for Uma!  She's done with all her pretty little sparklies and purple flowers.  Five more letters to go....

Sunday, August 29, 2010

About face..

with a little bit of cross stitch again.  Letters from Nora, U, the little fairy herself and a portion of the "U."  And ....the wings are already done (I seem to always leave those for last, which tends to make it a lot slower for me to finish the piece)   I am still working on my quilting projects, too...just took a little break from them all yesterday to work on this little girl. :)

Tessandra

Here's my finished Letter T from Nora Corbett.  Another sparkly one!  It's hard for me to believe that I have actually stitched every letter up until the T!

Onto the next one....U for"Uma!"

"S"

Meet little Samantha..my latest little alphabet fairy.  Letter S of the series...my little fairy sits and awaits her letter to be stitched!  Very unusual design for the letter itself, this time....more of a patchwork type appearance.

Oh, and Bunny Patch is done!  Pictures later, possibly.

Quin

A little update on my next fairy, "Q" for Quin:

A little more quilting on my reindeer this weekend.  This one is coming along slowly.  No new pictues of this one yet....waiting until the end.:)

PAULINA

....drumroll, please......here's my pretty purple "P" fairy....Paulina:

The background behind the "P" in the frame is charted to be filled in with Crescent Colours Argyle Socks.  I have not filled in any of the other backgrounds on my letters, so continued to do so with this one.

WIngs

...not chicken wings or barbecue wings, silly!  The wings on my next little letter fairy, Paulina.  Very sparkly indeed:

NINA

All done!  All her sparklies have been added....she was one of the quickest letters that I have stitched, so far.

The Letter M

M is for "Merry" Christmas? M is for "Michele?" M is for "many" projects? or M is for "May" you have a Happy New Year? ;) No, no, no....(but it does make me think of the Cookie Monster's (Sesame Street) "C is for Cookie" song....)

It could be that M is for "my" new/old project.....the Letter M fairy from Nora Corbett. She is the halfway point through the alphabet, plus she is at the"midway" point. ;)

Take a peek:

You know how it is with the New Year approaching...looking back, setting new goals, etc. I was trying to see what projects I had that I might be able to get done this year. Of course, I would like to be able to finish all the letters, but half way's not too bad.

BTW - this is another set of designs that I had originally thought of using in a quilt....the one for which I already purchased some of the fabrics....;)

Rudolph & Madeline

Two new starts...Rudolph...the last of the reindeer and Madeline, my Letter M Fairy. I love Nora's version of Rudolph. Not too much different than the other reindeer really. But -- I do like how she did his red nose, subtle and nice, but still Rudolph! (the background within the gold gets filled in with some white and beads).

Do you like to start at the top? I do...and it's usually because I like to see the heads rather quickly. In the Mirabilia's the heads have so much going on - lots of color changes for hair, crystals, beads and braids. The reindeer does have a bit of bling, but not so much on the actual head. The little fairies, however, usually have a lot of little beads surrounding the head. What's my point? I guess I like to see the sparkle right away, since I tend to attach the beads as I go, if at all possible.

Dragging, crawling...

I need one of those tired, exhausted little smileys here....this is for Kelly (Letter K Fairy from Nora Corbett Designs). For whatever reason, I have been working on her and working on her and wor.....well...you get the picture. I knew when I skipped her to stitch the Letter L it was a mistake.....but enough moaning and groaning....it is now time to D A N C E!! Yep! She's done! She's done! She's done!
And, yes, she deserves the "big guys!" Without further ado, Kelly:
(sorry for the crooked picture...)

Kelly WIP

Now you can tell that this is the letter "K" fairy from Nora Corbett....no fairy yet, but the letter is there!

And...take a look at this absolutely gorgeous fabric I purchased. It is McKenna Ryan's fabric. I bought it with the intention of possibly using it for the quilt I (eventually) intend to make out of all my letter fairies. This fabric has variations from light to dark. For now, I just folded it around the WIP to get an idea of how it might work with the quilt. What do you think? Me, I like it, I like it! :))

What? Cross stitch?

I know, I know...I have been totally involved in quilting stuff. Once those pincushions were finished, I picked up my cross stitch again. See?? Of course, I can hear you say...what the heck is that? Sort of looks like a letter L...maybe...but it really is the letter K. ;)

K for Kelly, that is. Letters from Nora Corbett...this is part of the "garland" she is holding. Not too bad for a night's stitching. Much prettier than I thought it would be from the picture on the chart.

"L" Leigh

My letter "L" (Leigh) from Nora Corbett's Letters from Nora:

LEIGH(a)

Lots of sparklies on this one!

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Ten minutes here...ten minutes there...

and look what you get:

JORDAN

I have worked on this little fairy, J for Jordan, just little bits of time here and there, when I would put my larger projects down. She offered just the right amount of diversion. All she needs now is her sparkle! Onto the beading.....

A finish and a few packages...

The Sleigh WIP(m)

The never ending packages....there are still plenty more! I did all the packages on the one side of the red ribbon.

Another finish! This letter fairy seemed endless....Please welcome, Ivy:

Ivy and Nora's Alphabet

I had started working on Ivy (Letters from Nora) before I was not feeling so well this past week. Here's how far I had gotten on her: Ivy(a)

This is a design by Nora Corbett for Golden Heart Originals called Nora's Alphabet. The letters are pretty free form with the star on the left and a swirl on the right side. There will be a pansy, a feather and a pear on the bottom center. You can see the very beginning of the top of the pansy.

I really have been stitching....

HEATHER

I found a packet of the Mill Hill 2026 beads that I needed to complete this little Letter Fairy - "H" Heather.

Since I got the NPI that I ran out of from The Stitching Post on Friday, I finished the beading and the Rhodes stitches on my Mini Mystery Mandala III.
