We have a finish!

Yeah!  This was one of the few BOM's  I managed to keep up with all year.  Shabby Fabrics Country Cottages BOM (patterns still available for free on the website!).  I started putting it all together late Saturday; messed around with it a little more on Sunday; and put the final border on this morning.
  
Ta Da!!

 

It is placed across the back of my sofa, since I didn't have anyone available at the time to hold it up for me.  

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Here it is!  The last block for Shabby Fabrics Country Cottage BOM!  I have started the assembly of the entire quilt, with only the outer border remaining to be attached.  Done just in time for the Christmas holidays!

OK...let's just get right to it...lot's of pictures today.  Some of these I should have posted a while ago, and some were finished recently.  Updated photos of some of the projects I have in the works.

the Indian Corn portion of the second block from Blessings of Autumn.  There are still three large leaf applique blocks for this one.  Check out the 'corn' fabric!

Third:  An updated Block three from Merry, Merry Snowmen.  This one has been done for a while.  It still required all the embroidery.

Here is the block with Santa and all the toys (for good little girls and boys!).  The stars with the names are little pockets that are to be used to place a small piece of paper with your 'wish(es)' for Christmas.

Christmas (again!) and more

OK, I know....I have definitely been on a binge as far as Christmas goes.  What can I say?  Most of the projects I have going are for Christmas, it seems.  I guess I love doing anything Christmas, because of all the 'warm fuzziness' of it all. :))

Here is another letter from my long-neglected Merry Christmas to All.  The Letter A...buttons are merely placed for picture purposes.  I will attach them, but since there are so many for this block, probably not until the quilt top is together.  Oh, the Letter A is supposed to be decorated like a Christmas tree.

And, something new from Annabelle.  I have had the drawings completed for a while.  However, I wanted to try and get caught up on a few of my other on-going projects before starting this one.  But...all those bundles (you know, I just mistyped that word as 'fundles'...which is really what they should be called...fat quarter bundles which are sooo much fun to have, to fondle....'Fundles!') of Christmas fat quarters calling me, calling me to come play with them.  So Annabelle and I did just that!  A bit of patchwork, a bit of wool and a bit of applique.  Annabelle's latest block, "Ready!"

Country Cottages.....

again!  Back when this BOM first started, I was feeling pretty ambitious.  I thought I would reduce the size of each block to 6", so that my finished quilt would not be so large.  Well....by March, reality set in, and I decided to go ahead with the designed dimensions.  I had done January's and February's block as six inches.  I kept up with all the other blocks at the regular size....which meant I had two blocks to redo.  Finally, here are the January and February blocks in the 12 1/2" by 12 1/2" size.

I wasn't too happy with the snowman's hat and redid it a little, as well as the face and a portion of the scarf.  No giant snowflakes in the sky, either.  I did those in the six inch size and did not think they added that much to the block.

Country Cottages

Here it is!  Block 8 of the free BOM Country Cottages offered by Shabby Fabrics.  Only a few more days until Block 9. :)

I did my sunflowers with three different golds of wool felt.  I attached the background to the fabric and kept the other petals loose, adding a running stitch through the top of each petal.

Sweetheart Houses

When you first look at the overall picture of this quilt, you think, 'pink.'  However, there really is not that much pink in the first block...more reds.

And, an 'oops'....my ric rac was attached in a straight line...but when I pressed the block from the back...they all got a bit wonky.  I had taken the picture before I realized, but I did smooth them out.

Blessings of Summer

It is done!  I appliqued the final star in the border last night. 

What goes in the empty pot?  Three 3D pinwheels, which will be attached after the quilt is actually quilted.  Plus, remember those two little, teeny quilts I made?  They will hang from the line on the large house block with cute wooden clothespins.

My favorite part of the quilt?  It is a toss up between those pinwheels and the ice cream cones.:))

I did notice that the little red wagon will make a reappearance in Blessings of Autumn, carrying some pumpkins.

Country Cottages

All done for month four!  This is Shabby Fabrics free BOM called Country Cottages.  Can you believe it is month four already?  This month's block has some fresh tulips and a few Easter egss, too!

CountryCottages - Block 3

Here it is!  It is hard to believe we are already on Block 3 for Shabby Fabrics free BOM called Country Cottages.  This one has a very cute shamrock topiary.

Off to work on another one of my Block of the Month's!

I absolutely, positively LOVE picking up a finished quilt from the quilter!  The only part left to be done was the binding....took me a day and a half, for some reason,.and...Drum roll, please........
My Blessings of Spring:

I know, I know,  not showing the entire quilt.  But there are portions of it to follow:

Notice how the glass beads for the water from the watering can sparkle in the pictures.  Little star buttons; little heart buttons; ribbon rosettes, to name a few of the over sixty (that's right SIXTY) buttons embellishing this quilt.

The ladybugs!  The one part of the design that immediately attracted me to this quilt. 

And, of course, pinwheels galore!  One of my favorite blocks of all time, two of the larger ones shown here with the cute little umbrella with the heart buttons on the tips.

My "Bewitched" quilt has been quilted, too!  I still have to attach and hand stitch the binding in place for it.  I have to say it again...I LOVE picking up my "quilt" when the quilting is done! :))

Perspective

Take a peek at this picture....Looks like a small quilt block...but...how small is it?  Is that a huge bottle of glue sitting with it?  Or  a small (2 oz. size) bottle?

This is my first little mini quilt for my Blessings of Summer  by Shabby Fabrics quilt.  The entire little quilt is only 4" square.  Each little pinwheel block is l" square.  Each four patch square is also l".  Now I do realize that the teeny blocks are far from perfect...but for my first effort...I do have a smile on my face when I look at it. :))

Back to Your Regularly Scheduled Program

I forced myself to put my 'Bewitched' project aside for a few days.  Yes...the beginning of the month 'guilt'  has set in.  I completed Block 4 for Blessings of Spring from Shabby Fabrics.  It has a very pretty fussy-cut vase with some bright colored tulips. 

After starting on the block, I also got the next block for Henrietta Whiskers ready.  This is the blue version for Bears Paw Fabrics.  I also fussy cut all the little windows and door for this block.

I don't think I posted a picture of Block 7 for this one, so here you go:

I really like the fabric I used for her house.

(My editing was horrible.  My little squirrel has a bit of a "glow", it seems.  Oops!)

Blessings of Spring

Block 3 is done!
  I am still lovin' the colors for this one.  There will be a few embellishments added...a red button to each set of leaves on the hearts as well as a little pink beaded necklace for the bird.

Fly away home!

Three very cute little ladybugs have come to live at my house.  This is the second block from Shabby Fabric's Blessings of Spring BOM.I love the colors that have been chosen for this project.  And the packages you receive from Shabby Fabrics for this are fabulous.  You get a color leaflet with all the fabrics to be used in the quilt...a separate leaflet with pictures showing how to do the spray starch method of applique as well as a separate color leaflet each month for the block.  (** not affiliated with Shabby Fabrics...just love their stuff!**)
