Blessings of Summer - Block 4

The two little mini quilts are done!  Phew!!  Each one took a little longer than I had thought they might.  Very tiny....but very cute, too!  Check 'em out...hanging out on their clothesline with their little teeny clothespins, while a pretty little kite catches a summer breeze. :)

This is a huge block, more than half the width of the center portion of the quilt.  Sorry for the weirdness of the shape of the block.  I had loosely placed it on top of another quilt on my quilt rack...it looks a bit wavy, but is really flat.
The next block is almost done, as well.   All done with the exception of the wording on the heart.  It has a huge heart with the words "In God We Trust" across a ribbon. I am not really happy with how the words look hand stitched on the ribbon.  Plus,  I am conflicted about using those words, only because they seem out of place in a "summer" themed quilt.  I was looking for either an alternative wording or was going to use a bow for the center of the ribbon instead.  Any suggestions?

Perspective

Take a peek at this picture....Looks like a small quilt block...but...how small is it?  Is that a huge bottle of glue sitting with it?  Or  a small (2 oz. size) bottle?

This is my first little mini quilt for my Blessings of Summer  by Shabby Fabrics quilt.  The entire little quilt is only 4" square.  Each little pinwheel block is l" square.  Each four patch square is also l".  Now I do realize that the teeny blocks are far from perfect...but for my first effort...I do have a smile on my face when I look at it. :))

Tiny Town

Ta Da!!  A finish....(this is a picture before the last borders were applied).  Another top complete...I am trying to tidy up that huge WIP pile.  Not to worry....there are plenty more to replace the ones I have completed.  Tiny Town started last year as a BOM with Shabby Fabrics, completed a little later than anticipated...but nevertheless, DONE!

Lots of fun things going on in this one...the little owl on top of the firehouse,  a dragonfly, a quilt shop, a polka-dotted "Beetle" car, and a very pretty birdie in a cage, to name a few.

Block 2 Harrington and Hannah

Another cute one from The Raspberry Rabbits free Block of the Month.  Lots of cute little hearts with Harrington and Hannah:

My flower pot looks blue in this picture, but it actually has a deep lavender color.

Here are the two blocks together:
(The stray thread gremlins are at it again..by the top heart.....sorry...)

Pumpkin & Star

Have I mentioned I belong to a ....ahem.....few.....Blocks of the Month?  Here's a portion of Block 7 for Blessings of Summer...the star; ice cream cones to follow!

Fun, vibrant summery colors!

Another BOM I am doing is The Great Pumpkin Quilt.  Here's Block 3.  These blocks are B I G!

(sorry...it got a bit wrinkled waiting for me to finally take its picture!)

A Reindeer

Here is another one of my little 'doodles' come to life.  I have to say I am pretty fond of this funny little guy....he does have a companion, too.  Both will be used in my Christmas quilt.

This is a 'rough' layout before any applique has been done.  I used buttons for the eyes temporarily.  I am probably going to stitch those, as originally planned.

Doodle

While trying to decide on the different portions for my Christmas quilt, I had made lots of little 'doodles' about a few ideas I might use.  This quilt developed from such a tiny little drawing..one that i intended not to use in my Christmas quilt...but he insisted on being made.  In fact, all along the way, it seemed that the decision to use a particular fabric had already been made for each portion as I went along.  I actually put this top together on Sunday and Monday, finishing up with the final border this morning.

Now, in the way of explanation....my two sons are grown, in college.  My friends are all too old to have children and I have no one in my family who is currently expecting a baby.  So, why am I making this design?  Don't have a clue, other than "Doodle" kept calling to me to create him.  After such a  long introduction, here's "Doodle:"

The top border is not showing, but is the same red fabric as the rest.  I intend to use a blue binding for when this is all complete.  Doodle was a lot of fun to make; I hope you enjoy him, too!

Little more Christmas

A little bit of the top row of my Christmas quilt.....

A candy cane...a lollipop...some Chrismas lights.

More lights....a peppermint

and a cupcake!
