Fernhill

Fernhill
Here are Blocks 1 through 5 for my Fernhill quilt.  This is a freebie offered by Lynette Anderson.  You receive the chart free by purchasing the little wooden button for each block.  Very cute and I am definitely looking forward to the next block.:)

Sheesh.....

OK, hanging my head in shame....bad blogger, bad blogger.  Where did I go?  It must have been the hot weather we have had.  I have not felt like blogging about anything.  I have been working on a few things...but again...just jumping around from one thing to the next.  Annabelle, then  Sew Spooky, even a couple of chicken blocks for my Red Barn quilt (which has not seen the light of day for months)..My Tweets center block with the Japanese fabrics....even a tiny bit on the little shepherdess for the Quilt Me Club.

No pictures of any of those projects (just yet).  I did start Block 2 for Fernhill.  I was starting to get upset with myself for a bit, since I could not find the pattern for Block 3.  I did not want to keep working on Fernhill until I found it! :(  F i n a l l y !   Of course, it was no where near where I thought I had put it.  :)  But inpsiration struck once again.  I decided to make all the patchwork portions necessary for all four blocks that we have been given, so far.  These included four small log cabin blocks.  The pattern suggested using a mix of blues and browns.  I had just recently purchased some gorgeous fabrics from Shabby Fabrics made by Lecien called Antique Flower (the brick set).  I decided to use these for the log cabin blocks, as well as some of the Japanese fabrics I already had.

(not exactly brick, are they?...but they are scrumptious!)
As I was constructing the blocks for the stitchery, I got to thinking about the layout for the quilt.  Think this is a possibility?
The empty blocks have the buttons on them for the stitchery blocks.  Now, to finish off those little bluebells for Block 2!

Fernhill

I know..I know...where the heck did I go?  I have been having a few of those days where I have not been able to decide what to do next....so darn many projects...and definitely not enough time!  Usually when I am feeling overwhelmed like this, I work on something totally different.  That's exactly what I did!

I had joined Lynette Anderson's latest BOM, called Fernhill, a few months back.  I had barely started the stitching for the first block.  But...now I can say that Block 1 is done!  Take a peek:

Lots and lots of little tiny leaves.  I used threads that were a close match to the recommended threads, or the recommended ones, if I had them.  The only big change was for the leaves.  I used Threadgather's Silk'n Colors Autumn Leaves.

Onto Block 2, which has a very cute squirrel button.

Christmas Time

I guess all those early Christmas commercials have had their sublimal effect on me....I have been in a Christmas mood for about a week now.  With that in mind, I worked on another of my Christmas Fun (Lynette Anderson Designs) blocks...the snowman.  I am enjoying how these little blocks are evolving with the wool felt.  Here's my dapper little guy:

Here's two other little wool projects I completed very quickly.  These are from a kit which includes all the wool felt, floss and cord to complete four different ornaments - two mittens and two stockings.  It is called Christmas Woolens by Rachel Pellman.  Here are the first two:

A little Christmas Fun

I really liked this free BOM from Lynette Anderson when I signed up for it.  I made one little block right away.  However, in the midst of all my many and varied projects, it fell by the wayside.  I decided I needed a little something different to work on for a day or so.  I started another block for this cute project...the Santa.  I also decided to go in a completely different direction than the first block...can you guess??  ;)  ....wool felt for the applique....not so different for me. However, different from what is recommended in the pattern.

I also worked on two of the heart blocks that will go with the snowman.
I am using Lynette's Scandanavian Christmas fabric for these blocks.

Friends for Christmas

OK, OK....this one has been done for a while.  But ~  now it has been machine quilted!  My first one ever....no, no.....I didn't quilt this one.  It is the first time I have actually had someone else do it for me. There is not an extensive amount of quilting....mostly outlining of the shapes, some random stars and a string of Christmas lights in the three penguin block.  The dark brown border has holly leaves.  All in all, I am pretty happy with it.  I am sure that there could be a lot more quilting done on it.  For me, for now, it's just right. :)

The sheep's in the meadow

OMG!  Look at her fat, round little body!  Too much!  This little pincushion took a bit longer than the bon-bon one.  Her little bunny ears are removable; once Easter is over, she can still be displayed.

I also completed the first block for Lynette Anderson's new freebie BOM, Christmas Fun. You do have to sign up at a participating shop for this one.  You pay for the cute, wooden buttons and receive the chart with it.
(It does lay flat, I just didn't realize that it was sitting a bit odd until after the picture.)

Wool and such

Two choices I selected for the wool flowers in my Stitched by Me project by Lynette Anderson.  I think Rusty likes the one on the bottom...and I think I like the one on the top.  I guess I will have to cut two sets of flower petals to see which one is the best.  :))

A pretty new background for St. Patrick's Day, since there is a wee bit of Irish in me from my father's side of the family. :))

Tiny

These little churn dash blocks are only 3 1/2 inches square!  They will be part of the side border for the first block of Scandinavian Christmas by Lynette Anderson.

My progress, so far, on the first block:

Some new things

A little bit of cross stitch!  It seems like forever since I posted something I have cross stitched.  This is Eight Maids A Milking by Nora Corbett Designs as part of her Twelve Days of Christmas series.  And...two little blocks, stitchery and quilting, Block 1 and 2 of the My Garden series by Lynette Anderson Designs

Would you look at that?

Ove 39,000 views on my blog!  Who'd have thought?  :)  Again, a special thank you to all who come by for a visit.  I know it's not always possible to leave comments....I'm notorious for looking at a bazillion blogs and barely leaving any comments.  However, I do appreciate everyone's thoughts and kind words on my pieces.

And yes, I have been busy (again). Lots of applique happening 'round here! :)) Here's a peek at my Baltimore Bunnies all gathered together in one place finally. I still have all the swags, bunnies and flowers to do for the oute borders.

My Friends for Christmas got a bit of attention this past week, too.  I finally finished the four spindly-leggd reindeer block (of which you can barely see three).  One more to go...the sleigh with a vine of holly leaves and a bag full of presents!  I did add the buttons to the "Charlie Brown" Christmas tree (not called for in the original pattern, but I thought it looked a bit 'naked'.)
