Done!

My model of Rabbits Prefer Chocolates by Bunny Hill Designs for Bears Paw Fabrics is done!  I added lots of litle bits of stitchery once the final borders were added.  Enjoy:

Springing!

Springing....not a word in the sense I am using it....Spring is about to be sprung!!  Yeah!  Finally, the weather is a bit warmer, the grass is beginning to show a hint of green  and all the llittle buds are appearing on the ends of the branches of the trees.

Now a few (very wrinkly) pictures of my Rabbits Prefer Chocolate blocks all together.  I have three more borders to applique with the scallops for the final finish on this one.  I had ironed it all nice and pretty to show Judy at Bears Paw Fabrics.  Of couse, afterwards it was folded and put into a bag to carry home...hence all the wrinkles.  I intend to press it once again after the remaining three borders are attached.

Bunnies and Chicks

Well, I am up to Block #5 on the Rabbits Prefer Chocolate quilt for Bears Paw Fabrics.  Here's the first half....which looks a lot like the second half...

This is the beginning of Block #6...just a flower and some leaves.  There will be a cute little bunny pulling another bunny in a cart.  Just as a matter of note, Anne Sutton had said that she based the blocks on early chocolate molds. Nowadays, it seems all we have are  chocolate bunnies and not very many inricate molds for Easter.

Everybody snowed in?

Lots and lots of snow across the country...we have a bit here in Maryland, too, but not quite as much as a lot of other places.  But being snowed in does have one advantage for me...even if it is a "forced" confinement by myself.  I do get a lot more done on my (ahem) numerous projects.

And, as if I don't have enough to keep me occupied, I insanely volunteered to complete the Rabbits Prefer Chocolate quilt by Bunny Hill Designs for Bears Paw Fabrics.   Yep, go ahead...say it...I know you must be thinking it....that girl is crazy!  LOL! ;)  But once I commit to something, I forge ahead.  A little bit of "forging" has been done in that regard...the first three blocks of Rabbits Prefer Chocolates, with fabics supplied by Bears Paw Fabrics.
All the little critters still need "eyes".  I have buttons to attach, which will be done once I get Block 4 done.

Now, some of you may not know this, but I have already made this quilt once.  Way back...when I first started quilting again ('bout 2 years ago).  I had never done any applique before that quilt.  I can defintely see from that quilt to this one how much my methods and abilities concerning applique have improved.

The Bunnies

The last buttons and bows and trim were attached yesterday after I had finished piecing the border.....Do you know how difficult it is to try and get a picture of a quilt? I was only taking pictures of each block as I had it completed. I tried stretching it out on the sofa, then the bed...and then the floor. It does not show a very good picture of the fancy scalloped border, but I was trying to get a picture or two before my camera batteries die (again)...Maybe this one is better..

I'm pretty happy with it overall. I can definitely see where I have improved from the beginning. Plus one of the (ahem...;) benefits was the increase to my fabric stash. := o

Keep watching ~ maybe another happy dance very soon!

Block #8

I think this is one of my favorite blocks, so far. Not to mention that it was a smaller block than some of the others.

Block #7

OK... I am totally addicted to these little bunnies right now...just a few more blocks and the main portion of the quilt is done.....

I started Block #8 yesterday evening....halfway done already....:))

Lots of bunnies

I put together the last row that I had completed and attached it to the whole quilt yesterday.
Not quite sure what is the best way to get a picture of a quilt. Next time I will try hanging it and taking one.

Thanks everyone for coming by and leaving me such nice comments!

Block #6

Rabbits Prefer Chocolate, Block #6. :)) It looks as though one of my sunflower buttons is crooked, but it is really the way the fabric is positioned on the table. I did cut off one of the leaves to the right of the flower stem in my picture, but this was a looong block. Another row of blocks completed. Time to put them all together. My little bunny colony is growing! ;)

And another bunny. . .

Here's the second part of the fifth block for the Rabbits Prefer Chocolate quilt.

Onto Block #6! :))

Block #5

Well -- half of what is noted as block #5 on the pattern, that is. It is the same block, just done twice , but used in separate areas of the quilt. I still have the second one to put together. (Those dar areas around the chick are just where the fabric is damp from removing the washable marker.)

Isabelle had told me she was going to send me a couple of fabrics for my Rabbits quilt, to add to the collection I had. This was so I would have plenty to choose from for all the different applique pieces. This is definitely not what I would call a "couple." Thank you so much, Isabelle!

Block #4

Done! This one is big!! Sort of like the giant chocolate bunny you would get in your Easter basket.

I managed to cut off the pieced border on the left side in the photograph. The bottom border is pretty much the same as that one.

Block #5 - two more chicks (and two blocks that count as one, I guess!)

Block #3

Woohoo!! I finished this one late last night...I really do get quite a bit done while watching (listening) to American Idol. ;)

OK - is it me? Does anyone else find this to be a strange combination? A rabbit riding a rooster? Well, I guess the rooster does have spurs...but then...shouldn't that be the other way around? ;) In the description of the quilt it says that the bunny blocks were based on old chocolate molds...but when you think about it...isn't it quite strange to eat chocolate rabbits (or any other animal)? Of course, then again - you see chicks being pulled around the yard by rabbits everyday! :))

Block #2

Block #2 - already! Wow! I have even impressed myself...just kidding! Of course, it helped a lot that block #2 had only five pieces that were a bit bigger than all those pieces in the first block. However, Block #3 does have quite a few. I'm sure there will not be as quick a finish on that one. Besides, I still have to cut out all the parts for that one!

Anyway, here's Block #2, (oops...I just noticed a little tiny piece of basting thread I forgot to pull out on that egg...)

I think it looks like the fabrics from this block and Block #1 do not go very well together. That's just my terrible picture taking abilities...the colors actually do look very nice together with the first block.

Chocolate?

Well....the name is "Rabbits Prefer Chocolate", you know, as in chocolate bunnies! This is a quilt pattern by Bunny Hilll Designs. Here is the entire quilt http://bunnyhilldesigns.com/store/products/details/?product=BM1061

The picture at the top is my block #1. Now my little chicks don't have their "eyes" yet, since I could not decide on a button, to stitch it or something else. (Not the best picture, as I see now that it is a bit crooked, but I just couldn't wait..)

Just as a note...I have not done any quilting for at least 15 years. Why this one? I really could not tell you for sure. It's sort of like a cross stitch pattern that just calls to you, you know?

Now block #2 is a bit smaller...;)

This quilt is not the original quilt that I wanted by Bunny Hill. The original one was Baltimore Bunnies:

http://bunnyhilldesigns.com/store/products/details/?product=BM1081

But the quilt store near me did not have it readily available...and I just had to have it, too, so I ordered it. But...there was the Rabbits Prefer Chocolate quilt hanging on the wall!! OMG...just too darn cute when you see it in person...so guess who walked out the door with the pattern and at least (gasp!) 15 fat quarters of fabric!
